Your Voice Was Heard: TBRC defeats TABOR proposal

Despite efforts by proponents of CP 45 to strong-arm commissioners into voting for it, the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission defeated the proposal, falling three votes short of the seventeen needed to put it on the ballot in November.
Prior to the meeting, CIVIC delivered a petition with nearly 1200 names, collected in just three days. Thanks to you, the Commissioners heard the message that Floridians don’t want to repeat Colorado’s mistake, jeopardizing our economy, our infrastructure and our schools.
After the vote was taken, however, some members of state House leadership announced they would pursue a similar amendment in the legislature. There are only a few weeks left in the legislative session, and we will monitor the issue closely.
