YES, I think this is a great solution.   0 votes - 0 %
YES, I'll vote for it, but I don't think it goes far enough.   0 votes - 0 %
NO, I don't think it includes enough relief for business, renters or second-home owners, or first-time homebuyers.   1 vote - 25 %
NO, I'm concerned about the impact on government services and education funding.   3 votes - 75 %

Wait

I believe that we should wait for recommendations by the Florida Commission on Tax Reform.

I hope the Commission will consider all factors in the tax question, including sales tax exemptions, corporate tax credits, internet purchase taxation, etc.

Frankly, I have very little faith in the Florida Legislature to determine any prudent tax policies or any other prudent policies, for that matter.

Property Tax Constitutional Amendment

What happened to the Education Budget?  The Florida Lottery was suppose to supplement the Education Budget, but that has not occurred.  The Florida Lottery replaced th Education Budget and it's time for the Legislature implement a budget that works for all schools versus having schools depend upon individual counties to add school tax onto property taxes at the local level.

What will influence my vote

Under the current property tax system I recieve a 25000 dollor exemption, Next year as a 65 y/o senior the exemption will increase to 50,000 dollars. The proposed bill will increase the exemption to 50,000 dollars this year, but it appears to me that when I turn 65 no provisions are in the bill to allow an additional 25000 senior exemption(to 75000) . The bottom line is that I gain nothing in 2009, my exemption will be at 50,000 dollars( exactly the same as without passage of the new bill) so I as a senior am penalized as I gain no relief from the current law. Correct me if I am incorrect please. My vote will be no as of now
