The Legislature is meeting in Tallahassee right now to address Florida's $2 billion budget shortfall. Some of our state's leaders have proposed raiding the Lawton Chiles Endowment Fund, an endowment created using part of the proceeds from the tobacco settlement that has provided critical funding for services to children and the elderly for nearly a decade.
